Campings in Sainte Maxime
Sainte Maxime is a very popular seaside resort in the South of France on the Gulf of Saint Tropez.
The town ownes its name and its existence to monks from the Lérins Islands, off the coast at present-day Cannes. They built a monastery around the year 1000 after Christ on the location of the current town. After the construction of the monastery, a small village soon arose, which was named by the monks after one of their saints, Maxime.
Sainte Maxime also ownes its fame to the proximity of Saint Tropez, the most popular destination in the region. From the port of Sainte Maxime you sail in 20 minutes - without traffic jams - to Saint Tropez by ferry. The nice boat trip is worthwhile anyway and ends in the fashionable harbor of Saint Tropez, where you can marvel at the luxury yachts.
For golfers, Sainte Maxime is a destination pur sang. At La Nartelle you will find the higher situated Golf de Sainte-Maxime and by the sea, more in the direction of Saint Tropez, is Golf de Beauvallon. A short drive away are the golf courses of Saint Endreol and Golf de Roquebrune.
